Staff
Bro. Don Brown came to Big Creek Baptist Church in November 2006. He accepted the full time call of the church as pastor in September 2007. Bro. Don has served as editor of the Mississippi Baptist Paper (the official publication of the Baptist Missionary Association of Mississippi) since 1978. His wife, Bonnie, is the executive secretary at Southeastern Baptist College, Laurel, Mississippi. They have two daughters and five grandchildren.
Bro. Brown has been in the ministry for 30 years and is a graduate of the University of Mississippi. He also attended Mississippi Delta Junior College, William Carey College and Southeastern Baptist College. He has done graduate work at the University of Southern Mississippi.
Bro. Brown has served as pastor and interim pastor at four other churches during his ministry.
Bob Barger is the Music Minister of Big Creek Baptist Church. He is a talented leader, vocalist and guitarist and directs the choir; the presentation of special music for our worship services; leads in the production of musical presentations at Christmas and Easter; and oversees and plans the overall music program of Big Creek. He was instrumental is starting the church Hand Bell Choir.
Bob has been serving the Lord in the music ministry for over 30 years. He and his wife Lanie live in Sandersville, Mississippi, and are the parents of Cyline & Bret Barger and Andrea Youngblood.

Bro. Jacob McKenzie and his wife, Heather joined the work at Big Creek Baptist Church in February 2010. He began to feel a call to the gospel ministry in 2004 and has been striving for greater service to Christ since that time. He will graduate from Southeastern Baptist College in May 2010. He has served as an associate pastor and served as pulpit supply for several churches.
Heather is Jacob’s partner in life and ministry. She serves a tremendous encouragement and support. Heather is employed at Covington County Hospital as an X-ray technician.
Jacob’s aim in ministry is to lead people in their pursuit of depth and intimacy with God and to help engage them in service for Him. He counts it his privilege to serve with the Youth and all members of Big Creek Baptist Church.

Jean Jefcoat is the newest addition to the staff at Big Creek Baptist Church, beginning her service in February 2008. She is a native of Jones County and has been a member and actively involved in BMAA churches for over 50 years. Jean was baptized by the Temple Baptist Church in Laurel, Mississippi. She was married to Bro. O. N. (Norvelle) Jefcoat for 44 years. He was reared in the Big Creek Community and served 40 years as pastor of several churches in Mississippi. Jean has 4 children and 4 grandchildren. She recently retired from a local poultry company after 30 years in various positions in the Accounting Department. She received her education at Laurel City Schools, Jones County Junior College, and Mississippi State University. She enjoys traveling, reading, and spending time with her family.
